Minutes to Meltdown is a pseudo-3D action game in which the player controls Homer as he races to the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant to prevent a nuclear meltdown. The game is thirty minutes long (the player must get Homer to the power plant in that time) and has three levels (one at the Simpson's home, one on the streets of Springfield, and one at the plant). Maggie has no powers, but Marge can send her through small openings into shafts that her family can't access. Gerard, Jeremy (February 21, 1990). "Bad Language, Hurt Feelings and Success". [1] Two different family members are playable in each level, [2] [3] aside from the tutorial level, "The Land of Chocolate", in which only Homer is playable, in all of the levels in which Marge appears, in which Maggie is also playable, and the final level, "Game Over", where all members of the family are playable. [4] The game contains sixteen levels, called episodes, [3] and each requires specific powers to complete. For example, in the fourth episode, "Lisa the Tree Hugger", the player is required to use Lisa's "Hand of Buddha" power to move large objects, and Bart's slingshot to shut down machines. Enemies unique to each episode are featured, with the exception of the final level, in which enemies that have already been defeated are "recycled" with different colors. Unfortunately, we've got to be brutally honest here and say that the whit and charm of The Simpsons Game is seriously undermined by what can, at their very best, be described as clunky, awkward, irritating controls. Within the first few seconds of the game, we suddenly found ourselves drowning in a river of chocolate after failing to make the very first jump... several times. This stuff can usually be put down to the initial learning curve, but when we found that the plight of poor jumps followed me through this game, its needless to say that we felt disappointed. And its not just the jumping that's clumsy either- the camera in the game is utterly useless; we've never experienced such an unnatural camera that seems to try its best to make life hard for you.

The Simpsons is an American animated television sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical parody of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its eponymous family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. It is set in the fictional town of Springfield, and lampoons American culture, society and television, and many aspects of the human condition. [1] The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a pitch for a series of animated shorts with producer James L.Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987 and after a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and became a hit series for Fox. [2] [3] The growing popularity of the series motivated video game developers to create video games based on the series. Two pinball machines have also been produced; one self-titled, that was only made available for a limited time after the first season finale (1990) and The Simpsons Pinball Party (2003). [4] Additionally, several handheld device games have been released, such as Bartman: Avenger of Evil (1990) and Bart Simpson's Cupcake Crisis (1991). [5] [6] Bart buys Grand Theft Scratchy from the Sequel Stop only to have it confiscated by Marge (she puts it is Homer's underwear drawer along with his BB gun and swimsuit magazines) then when Bart goes in an alley outside he finds the Simpsons Game manual. When Bart tries out his powers (he turns into Bartman), he finds Homer and they go down the man hole near the Springfield Natural History Museum (Homer was going to shoot bats while reading swimsuit magazines). While underground, they find out that Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph have been sent by Principal Skinner to steal museum artifacts. Bart and Homer stop them and the police arrest Skinner. behind a corner, located on the right side of the wall with the waterfall (collect this one while you are waiting for Selma to destroy a bridge) The game has 5 playable characters: Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Maggie. In the game manual, Maggie and Marge are counted as a single character, but they have different gameplay and controls. a b c d e "The Simpsons Game Walkthrough". IGN.
